Implementation of GDPR Laws
With attention being paid to the protection and privacy of individuals’ personal data, we wanted to confirm to our clients that we are always working hard to comply with the highest global data standards.
The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect on May 25, 2018 and as an American company with global relationships we wanted to make our clients aware that we were compliant with GDPR.
We like GDPR…we hate spam and one of the best things about this set of rules is it gives teeth to combat businesses that send unsolicited emails. We don’t send spam, so this rule was easy to comply with and we haven’t had to send out emails to clients asking them to opt into “newsletters” that our inbox’s are filled up with in the weeks prior to GDPR implementation.
GDPR also looks closely at data security and the rights of the end user to remove their data from our systems.
Luxury Yacht Group has always made efforts to safeguard your personal data to the highest global industry standards. With consistent investments to upgrade our technology resources and keep your data protected, the modifications required to comply with GDPR were relatively simple.
Part of this investment is in human capital and we supplemented our IT team with a Data Protection Officer in January of 2018. Nila DiDonna had spent the previous 16 years with Norwegian Cruise Lines where she held the position of Senior Director; Compliance and Information Security and Identity Management. We are very fortunate to have someone as skilled and experienced as Nila join on our small IT team.
If you have any questions or concerns about how we store your personal data, Nila would be happy to explain. nd@luxyachts.com
